Operating and environmental permit

Planning zones are the primary level of Dutch spatial planning legislation in which binding conditions are laid down for the nature and location of buildings and the activities permitted in the zone in question.

These conditions mean that requirements are specified for the percentage and height of buildings and zoning and landscaping requirements are also laid down for ecological reasons. In order to protect people and the environment from pollution, compliance with the following environmental regulations is required:

  • Production processes must prevent emissions of substances as well as noise and odour emissions or reduce them to the permissible levels.
  • Depending on the nature of production and working conditions, a number of mandatory production and quality standards may require safety measures to be put in place.

Further information on possible environmental requirements or restrictions can be obtained from the appropriate municipal authorities.
